Why attendance alone misleads private tutors
Full seats do not equal learning. Pairing seat time with mastery bands changes how centers assign extra hours.
Full classrooms feel like success. Private tutors celebrate packed seats, then wonder why mastery bands barely moved. Attendance without a paired mastery view hides the students who sit quietly below band week after week.
A practical pairing: show seat rate and band movement on the same cohort row. A group with high attendance and flat mastery needs different support than a group with spotty attendance and rising scores.
During term progress reviews, we ask directors to mark where Saturday hours went. Comparing that map to the paired chart often reveals over-investment in already-stable top cohorts. Reassigning a few slots costs less than redesigning the whole timetable.
Keep the chart honest about small classes. A two-student swing can look huge in percentages; annotate headcount beside the percentage so staff do not overreact.
